is an exhibition of the outputs of a design workshop organized by Rhimal and Al Khatoun integrating contemporary lighting design and local crafts and materials. . In an attempt to revive the relevance of local crafts, the designers are challenged to get engaged with craftsmen to get acquainted with their materials and their techniques. By introducing design to crafts and crafts to design, the project aims to develop a new language for both groups. On the one hand, young emerging designers can explore the potentials of developing a contemporary language for design from Egypt, the first step towards participating in a global design discourse. On the other hand, design can add a new dimension to the relevance of traditional crafts within the contemporary markets. Al Khatoun and Rhimal will also work on developing a sustainable production and marketing formula for the new products under a new brand identity to encourage the designers and craftsmen to continue investigating in the process by developing new ideas.
